The present volume contains the whole of the Marriages from the beginning of each register down to 1812 (when the use of the old parchment books was discarded) in each of nine parishes. It has been thought desirable, for certain reasons, to modernise the spelling of christian and place names, but the spelling of the surname is given in all cases exactly as in the original entry, which, though abstracted in an abbreviated and uniform style, contains every information such as age, parentage, vocation, place of abode, etc., which is contained in the original.
