Ealing included the populous hamlet of Old Brentford until 1828, the population of the latter, which then became a separate parish, being approximatel as five to three of the former. According to Faulkner's history, this parish contained 700 houses in 1795, of which 500 were in Old Brentford. A list of the worthies who have been resident here would be a lengthy one. Some interesting works dealing with that subject have been published. During the the latter half of 1665 about 250 persons died here of the plague.
