Although the Mail Coach referred to in the introductory pages belongs entirely to the past, and the guides and boatmen of that period have naturally changed like the lights and shadows upon the mountains over which they trod, these Killarney memories are here reproduced for the benefit of the present generation. Gorham, of Gorham's Hotel, to whom frequent reference is made, has, in the course of nature, long since departed this life; but Gorham's Hibernia Hotel we find mentioned as standing in the High Street when the late Mr. Windele published his historical and descriptive notices in 1839. Gandsey, the old piper, is of course no longer " to the fore," and his son emigrated some years ago.
