The Editor of the following sheets has endeavoured to collect as many of the most respectable Merchants, Manufacturers, Traders, and Shopkeepers in this large and populous City, as must be of great service, particularly to Strangers, likewise to a number of Citizens, by having a proper direction to the lodgings, counting-rooms, warehouses, and shop-keepers, within the City of Glasgow.
He intended likewise to have made this Directory larger and more useful to the Public; but in collecting the names he found a great backwardness in receiving an explicit answer from a number of persons in trade, for reasons best known to themselves.
